Radio Teaching Series
Belonging to God
Every Christian is set apart to God in Christ. The writer of Hebrews spells it out: “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Hebrews 10:10, NIV). When Christians do ungodly things, they do not prove themselves unholy; they run contrary to their holiness.
Life direction is formed in the deepest sense of inward identity. The child who feels worthless will likely do worthless things. The child who feels stupid won’t study hard. But when a child has a deep identity of worth, the child applies him/herself toward noble things. Such is the Christian life.
We are not suddenly transformed in character when we accept Christ. A process of growth begins. Spiritual disciplines, personal piety, and godly choices all play a part in that transformative process. However, we are not in the process of being made holy; we are already made holy when we are set apart unto God in Christ. This is a series that aims to divulge the hidden treasure of definitive holiness in Christ. Our holiness isn’t earned through right living; it is granted as part of the good news of the Gospel. When people receive the good news of definitive holiness in Christ, they are empowered to live as a holy people. I just hope by the end of the series that all our people can say, “I am holy,” without wincing or winking.
We are God’s holy people. Hallelujah.
