Elijah was just as human as we are and, therefore, we are just as likely candidates for God’s miraculous works. In his reference to Elijah, James doesn’t invite us into a morbid introspection about our sin but into a healthy, shame-free community so that we can be open with others. God doesn’t hold our unconfessed sin against us, punishing us with sickness and disease. But our hidden sins, regrets and fears make room for the accusation
and condemnation of the enemy and hinder us from coming boldly to the throne room of God in our time of need.
